Murder in Coweta County (1983)

Based on a true story, this movie, starring Andy Griffith and Johnny Cash, was one of the best we've seen in a long time.

And that's all we've got to say.
A must see.
5 out of 5 stars.

Step Brothers (2008)

We waited eagerly for the release of Step Brothers onto DVD. From the trailers we saw, we thought it would be a clever, laugh-out-loud movie. For a PG-13 rating, we expected a little bit of crass humor, but this movie was over the top. When a movie resorts to using the f-bomb every other second, and 90% of the humor is sexual in nature, it loses my respect. It didn't take long for us to stop the movie and find something better to do with our time.

Hulk (2003)

I have a negative bias toward the Hulk. I always thought the Hulk was a dumb concept. Chris convinced me to watch Hulk. It was a little slow to begin with, and I waited patiently for the movie to develop and get good. But the further I got into the movie, the more I felt like I was wasting my time. About half-way through, I opted to read a good book while Chris watched the rest of the movie. He said it was okay, and is waiting to see Hulk 2. I think he gave it more credit than it deserves, probably because he has fond memories of watching the hulk on tv as a kid.

Hellboy 1& 2

I was hesitant to watch Hellboy, but thought I'd give it a whirl. After all, there is a stop button on the DVD player. First, I had to get over my knee-jerk dislike of a demon-like character being cast as one of the good guys. Chris didn't expect much from the movie either, but we were both pleasantly surprised. It was quite entertaining.

After enjoying Hellboy, we looked forward to watching Hellboy 2. It was decent, but I think we were expecting a little more.

Little Monsters (1989)

My husband picked up this movie. He wanted to watch something that Howie Mandel starred in since he's seen him so much on Deal or No Deal.
I am having less and less confidence in my husband's movie picks. Also starring Fred Savage, this is one of the most cheesy and obnoxious movies I've seen in a long time. Mandel's hyper-obnoxiousness as Maurice, the monster reminded me a little of Jim Carrey, except worse. I thought for a moment that Chris might actually be enjoying the flick, since he is a huge Jim Carrey fan, but he, too, admitted that this movie was awful.
Worse than your typical 80's movie, I rate it a -1 out of 5.

Syriana (2005)

About oil and politics. It is fairly captivating and somewhat of a nail-biter, and leaves you with one of those slightly sick to your stomach feelings. 3.75 out of 5 stars.

Overboard (1987)

I can't help it. I LOVE this movie. I watched countless times in my jr. high days (my friend and I had a crush on Kurt Russell) but hadn't seen it since. How can you not enjoy a movie where a rich snob gets dumped into (relatively) redneck life?
